چکیده

Recent progress in the study of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) spectroscopy in d and f electron systems is described. The main space is devoted to the theoretical investigations, some typical experimental data and the comparison of calculated and experimental results, putting emphasis on the underlying physical mechanisms. We confine ourselves mainly to the studies performed since 2000, and discuss the following topics: (1) RIXS in high Tc cuprates, (2) f 0 and d systems, (3) other transition metal compounds, (4) RIXS by electric quadrupole excitation, and (5) magnetic circular dichroism in RIXS of ferromagnetic systems. Some brief description is also given on the future prospect of the RIXS study. Ultrafast Independent N−H and N−C Bond Deformation Investigated with Resonant Inelastic X‐Ray Scattering

The femtosecond excited-state dynamics following resonant photoexcitation enable the selective deformation of N-H and N-C chemical bonds in 2-thiopyridone in aqueous solution with optical or X-ray pulses. In combination with multiconfigurational quantum-chemical calculations, the orbital-specific electronic structure and its ultrafast dynamics accessed with resonant inelastic X-ray scattering a...

Electron correlation effects in resonant inelastic X-ray scattering of NaV2O5.

Element- and site-specific resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectroscopy (RIXS) is employed to investigate electron correlation effects in NaV2O5. In contrast to single photon techniques, RIXS at the vanadium L3 edge is able to probe d-d* transitions between V d-bands. A sharp energy loss feature is observed at -1.56 eV, which is well reproduced by a model calculation including correlation e...

Stimulated electronic x-ray Raman scattering.

We demonstrate strong stimulated inelastic x-ray scattering by resonantly exciting a dense gas target of neon with femtosecond, high-intensity x-ray pulses from an x-ray free-electron laser (XFEL). A small number of lower energy XFEL seed photons drive an avalanche of stimulated resonant inelastic x-ray scattering processes that amplify the Raman scattering signal by several orders of magnitude...

Inelastic X-ray Scattering by Electronic Excitations in Solids at High Pressure

Investigating electronic structure and excitations under extreme conditions gives access to a rich variety of phenomena. High pressure typically induces behavior such as magnetic collapse and the insulator-metal transition in 3d transition metals compounds, valence fluctuations or Kondo-like characteristics in f -electron systems, and coordination and bonding changes in molecular solids and gla...
